In accordance with your instructions we

referred to our Consulting Electrical Engineers for

their observations, the papers accompanying your letter No.39268 of 4th January, on the subject of a claim made

by the Government of Hongkong against the United States Navy Department for damages in respect of (1) the repair and (2) depreciation of two submarine cables, fouled by U.S.S. "Jason" when dropping anchor in Hongkong Harbour on 4th March, 1926, and I have now the honour to transmit

for the information of the Secretary of State a copy of

their reply.
